5 CLOTHES PLUS SIZE WOMEN SHOULD HAVE IN THEIR WARDROBE

Hello Erzulliestas!

I know that it has been a while since I have posted of any nice informational value to you. Since my tirade in twitter is over, I am now back to blogging. I will only be using the twitter to connect with you gals! (Tweet with me! @erzullie)

Anyway, here are the 5 things that I think all plus size women should have. Now remember, these are just suggestions. This list is not the list of the things that you should have. In fact, these things are the ones  that save my day everyday, as I juggle through career, business, love and life all at the same time. So if you have other life-saving must-haves for other Erzulliestas, feel free to comment!

1. THE EVERYDAY BLACK FLATS

I am a fan of black flats. I am 5"1' and I know that I am short and need heels at times, but you have to admit curvies, as much as we want to stay on our fabulous heels the whole day, we cannot. There is always a breaking point. Personally, I think that the heels of the shoes today are too extreme. That is why thank you for the person that made black flats available to every one.

The reason that this is a must have is because it goes with everything and it's comfortable. Of course, you have to choose quality over "desirability" (like the style and brand name). Choose flats that looks sophisticated and chic. You can also choose the style according to what suits your foot shape. For general purposes, choose the black flats that has a soft, stitched around insole, rigged sole, semi round/pointed shape. These goes with your corporate down to the morning after the club scene.

2. THE BLACK TANK TOP

Most of my pieces are from Erzullie and we all know for a fact that as a Fierce Plus Size Fashion line, our pieces can be too eye-catching. We need to "dumb it down" a little bit with something plain and my always trusted bet is the BLACK TANK TOP. Not only does this goes with ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING, it also transforms as an inner for your sheer tops, corporate blazers (provided it's closed), or your just day-to-day activities.

In selecting though, make sure that when you try it on, you try it on with lights. This way, you will know if your boobs and bra is not showing. Nothing says "cheap working girl" than a girl that shoes her boobs and colored bra in a professional workplace.

Make sure that you also select the most plain one at all. NO Glitters... NO Pockets... NO lace... NO other detailing than the cloth's texture. Just a plain black tank top.

Finally, in selecting the right black tank top, make sure that it hugs your body perfectly does not show a lot of cleavage as well as side boob.

The possibilities for this top is ENDLESS.

3. THE LONG THIN NECKLACE

Erzulliestas, listen up. A long thin necklace goes a looong way. Of course, this depends on your preference.

My suggestion is the long string of pearls type. This will add both femininity on your outfit as well as narrowing and elongation of the torso. It also drives the attention away from your arms and big boobs. By just putting this on, I tell you, you will look feminine, elongated and narrowed. It's an instant fashion magic!

Combine this with the black tank top and the right straight cut jeans, and voila! Instant chic!

4. THE STRUCTURED OUTERWEAR

Nothing says "polished" more than a well structured and tailored outerwear. When I say structured, I am talking about your corporate blazer being tailored to fully hug your curves properly. Choose one that emphasizes a narrow waist to have that perfect hour glass figure.

Blazers/Outerwear is not only for the office, in a mad dash to go to a lunch at the mall, a simple outfit can become tres chic when  you put on a well-tailored, structured outerwear.

5. THE STRAIGHT CUT JEANS

We all love our skinny jeans, but the straight cut ones never goes out of style. Make sure that the jeans you chose does not show your butt crack when you sit, nor does it create a muffin top either. It should also end after your ankles as to not make stumps out of your legs.

This type of jean will elongate you and give you a sleeker look than the skinny jeans. Skinny jeans will trace your curves and will actually reveal, in the nearest sense, what your legs look like. On the other hand, straight cut jeans will literally elongate your legs, making you look taller and more fluid.

Straight cut jeans can also be worn from your daily errands down to your jet setting life. You know we must more denim than any other cloth. (Working woman right?)

WHY BEING A CURVY IS AMAZING

Reasons why being a curvy is amazing:

1. WE ATTRACT ATTENTION

Let's admit it, our body SCREAMS attention whether or not we want it to be. Even if you dress your simplest, people will spot you in the crowd. Now how great is that? You are an accidental celebrity! Tee-hee! Now is your chance to shine though, it's time to dress up!

Although there are some morons and idiots out there who feels negative about our body, there are definitely A LOT OF amazing, open hearted and geniuses that feels otherwise. So let's focus on the geniuses instead and of course, our hotness.

2. WE GET REMEMBERED MORE

The truth is ladies, it's almost common to see a very fashionable regular size woman. We see them, we go "wow" and then we tend to forget about it within the day. BUT, you have to admit, when a curvy dresses up, people "go wow", they get inspired and they really remember you.

In fact, I saw this fabulous plus size woman in DUO last time in Serendra. Until now, I remember her whole ensemble: Black dress, black and white leopard print mule shoes, brown hair, eyEbrows like Anne Curtis and red lips like Gwen Stefani.

Let's be honest, the fashion forward plus size women are just starting to bubble up in numbers. (Hopefully, all of us will wake up.) It's rare to see really fashion-eating-breathing curvy. That is why when a curvy does step up, full of confidence and owns the runway that is the streets of the Metro, people will snap their necks for you.  Geniuses will applaud, haters will hate.

3. MEN LOVE CURVES AND CONFIDENCE --- WE GOT BOTH

A sexy thin girl is common. I know I will raise a lot of eyebrows on this one --- hear me out. We see it EVERY WHERE --- magazines, runways, books, malls, tv, commercials etc.

However, when a curvy dresses up, sexifies herself and contours her curves right, you have to admit, people will say "damn!" as you pass by.

Some guys love a little something to grab onto in a sexy date. They also loves a woman that makes them think "how did she become so fly like that?" We both have these --- curves to hold and the mystery of how we look so sexy when we are usually perceived as ugly.

WHAT LIES AHEAD: THE FUTURE OF ERZULLIE 2012

Well it's the first day of the year and we want to start it awwwweeesome! Here is our resolutions for the brand and what lies ahead for you, Erzulliestas!!!

1. We will produce Maxi Pants for RESORT 2012

In fact, I will dedicate a nice teaser photo for that one.

2. We will produce more styles.

We hear your cries Erzulliestas and we have listened. We will be expanding our line this Resort 2012. Expect some basics to come on your way, so when you do buy a high fashion item, you can also find a top that goes with it!

3. We will produce more for each size.

To be honest, we only produce 6 pieces each size and design (so that is around 30 pieces from L-4L each product). Through the course of our business life, we have decided to increase it from 6 to 8 pieces. This is to ensure your uniqueness and also quality.

4. Fiestier Lookbooks

Being the head of the Resort 2012, I have decided to increase the ante on our look books/catalogue. Hopefully, you girls will lov eit.

5. Streamline the search for the Erzullie Icon.

NEW YEAR, NEW YOU: FINDING YOUR (TRUE) STYLE OF FASHION

It’s the start of the New Year so let’s start fresh! What better way to do that than making your own personal resolution to start building and investing in your own personal style!

Let’s be honest, we all tend to get lost in the magazines and the glamour of a store and tend to buy things without thinking twice. At times, even if we do chances are, as soon as we take it home, it builds dust in the closet. Why is that? It’s because it’s really not our style.

So how do we find our true personal style? Here is a step by step procedure on how to make sure that you find your way through the jungle that is your closet!

1. Group them up by shade then color.

Take out all of your clothes from your closet. (Just the clothes for now ladies, the shoes is a different topic). Group them by shade of color first — Light and Dark. Afterwards, see which shade has the most number of clothes.

Take that bigger pile and then group them according to color. Then, see what is your real favorite color, which is basically the color that has the most number of clothes.

2. Group them up by levels of fashion.

Now that you know your real color preference in terms of shade and color, it is time to group them by levels of fashion. There are 3 major levels of fashion — basic, moderate and high. Basics are your plain tops/bottoms/dresses that does not have any other print and detailing on them. Your moderates are those with prints, details and different structures already. High fashion items, on the other hand, are those that are usually sparkling, shimmery and absolutely looks expensive.

After grouping them up by levels of fashion, determine which one are you investing heavily on (which is ultimately determined by the number of items per level). Take note of this.

If your plains dominate your closet, then this is an indication that you are more into the quiet, comfortable, casual looks.

If you own mostly moderates, this indicates that you are in a little experimental side.

If you have a lot of high fashion items, then this definitely says that your style is all about the glitz and the glamour.

3. Take note of your lifestyle.

Now that you know your physical preferences when it comes to fashion. Let’s talk about the application of it. Does your preference, as shown through the exercise, really serve and reflect the lifestyle that you are having?

If you find yourself saying “No”, then it’s time for you to start re-thinking your choices for your fashion items. After all, Fashion is the expression of our selves and if ever you did say “no” to the question, that clearly states that you are not in-tune to what is really going on with your life and within you.

On the other hand, if you have said yes to the question, then that’s great news! It means that you do have a sense of your personal style! From this, save the clothes of your favorite shade and level of fashion and rummage through the rest. See which ones you can still fit in with your preference and donate those that you know you haven’t used in a year (except great, season-only clothes!).

We hope this article helped you in discovering your true personal style. This new year brings in a whole new opportunity to discover yourself— so start by being honest with yourself and be true to your real personal style!
