But just like any other woman, us too, have those moments where in we feel like we have lost ourselves and we feel powerless. Well, fear not, here is a little Erzulliesta exercise that will help you "summon" your self back from within.

#1 Wear your favorite color. 

Erzulliestas know themselves well and keep on discovering more of it daily. We are sure down to this point, you ladies already know your favorite color. And of course, the reason that this is your favorite is because it makes you feel good and empowered.

So why not summon your "sacred" hues and dress yourself in that color? Adorn your body with your goddess shade and feel a shift in your general aura.

#2 Center yourself.

Things are getting too crazy for your taste? Time to detach and go to your own safe corner. Close your eyes and breathe deep. Take your time. After all, whether or not you do something, that thing will remain "cray cray". So might as well center yourself and be aware that you are still you, no matter what the external forces would say.

#3 Eat or drink your favorite healthy food.

We all have mood foods. In fact, there is even such a thing as a "comfort food" for everyone. Why not take time to make this for yourself and enjoy, savor every sip and bite? And yes, of course, you can order and have someone make it for you.

#4 Remember what you stand for.

Erzulliestas know what they are about and what they stand for. When everyone is barking orders at you and telling you how to think and feel and you know that this is not coming from love , then stand your ground and tell them to shut up! Summon your inner fierce force by remembering what you stand for and make people remember it too.

#5 Honor your rest time.

PLUS SIZE POWER: HOW TO BEFRIEND YOUR FEAR

A friend of mine and I have been talking. She has been single for years and by choice. She has many suitors up to now, but she keeps on saying no. I asked her why and she told me it's because she is afraid to be one of those girls who gives everything to their guy to the point that she has nothing left.

Now, to be fair, this friend of mine had front row seats to that kind of situation. I don't want to go into the details as it was private, but let's just say that they were all highly successful women, who have been alone for so long, that finally when they met a guy, they gave up their whole life and identity just to keep that guy and then when the guy is gone they are left with --- nothing.

That's when she developed the fear. Fear of being "that girl".

And having fears can be good. It actually keeps us alive. Because of fear, we don't do things that can actually harm us. But when we allow fear to fully control the direction of our lives to the point that you no longer feel protected but constricted, then you know that you just have to question it.

And I think, at that point, that is what my friend was having "enough of". Unfortunately, she just can't shake it. Fear has a hold on her and it's just plain self-sabotage now.

Then it occurred to me. Fear is actually a "friend". Yes. You heard me right.

I told her, if you think about it, because of that fear, she has screened men fully and made sure that they respected her boundaries and strengthened her sense of individuality. Because of that, you have gained a reputation that you are a woman looking for a serious relationship and thus only men who are into that can only approach you.

Fear, in this sense, has become that constant "post-it" in the brain to remind her of her values. And at that point, fear was reminding my friend that she values herself and that a relationship will be healthier if both people in the relationship still have a sense of their own individual identities.

Without that fear, she could have just said yes to anyone that would come by and indeed have given them everything she got, leaving her with nothing. In this sense, fear has saved her. Fear was a friend that was given a semi-bad reputation.

It's kind of like that "concerned friend" who disagrees to what you want right now. You just know that they are concerned and they may or may not have valid points. But you know that at the end of the day, this is still your life. You still have a choice and you just have to have that faith in yourself that you can pick yourself up whatever happens.

And the way to befriend that fear is to learn the real truth of what that fear is communicating and turn it into a positive reminder.

PLUS SIZE POWER: THE HEART VS. HEAD || WHICH ONE IS SPEAKING?

Or could it be your stomach?

I just had a nice evening earlier and it has been a while since I have attended to my own spiritual/creative needs. I know that us Erzulliestas we are all about work, achieving goals and living life with fabulous friends, family and travels. However, there is a time wherein part of us want to go within and be a recluse for a moment. And I am glad that I took time for myself tonight. It got me to thinking.

Everyone in the world is telling you to follow your heart. But, truth be told, I always find it hard to discern if it was just my head talking to me in the first place.

Have you ever thought about it?

How do you even discern “the voice of the heart from the voice of the head” in the first place?
The reason that I have arrived to this question is that recently, I have always found myself at crossroads. Like I want to watch a movie, but then again I am thinking that my budget would be better elsewhere. And even when I decide to have dinner. I feel like I want to have curry, but then it’s better if I choose something healthier like a salad.

I love that I always present all the possible options to myself. The more informed choice, the better I always say. But one thing about me is that I can argue for BOTH sides --- and that is where it always gets me.

They say follow your heart when choosing --- but who am I listening to?

After the night of full creative fun, I am now here in bed full of inspiration. I have just realized that what I did earlier --- lit a candle, burned some incense, did some journaling and creative free fall writing --- all of that was just a “present” thing. When I did all of those things, it did not matter what would be the next step. I was just focused on the present step and ravished the point by point of the creative endeavor.

And I think at that point, I knew that it was my heart directing my action.

The heart doesn’t know past or future. It only knows the present. It only knows what is on hand and what makes it feel good, creative and passionate. It sees what it sees now and goes, “Yeah. This feels good. Let’s keep on doing it.”

From that, I finally have a contrast on my “head voice”. My head is more of, “Okay. I see the present. Let me present to you the past lessons we have gathered so that we can achieve a specific future that we said we wanted earlier.”

My brain acknowledges the present situation and uses the power of the past lessons to jumpstart a domino effect of events to create a future that I wanted.
My head knows time. My heart, on the other hand, only knows the feeling of now.

And as of writing, I think this should be explored more. I feel like I am in a cusp of something empowering. Will share it more soon.

PLUS SIZE POWER: WHY YOU SHOULD INVEST IN YOURSELF

I am the type of person that is ready to be generous to others, but very stringy when it comes to myself. My beloved friends have notified me of this behavior and I do agree with them. It’s not healthy. So let’s start to the first question --- why am I like this?

As of this moment, I knew that I needed to have my check-up, just to make sure that I am not missing or ignoring anything that my body would love me to love. However, I have been postponing it because I deemed it as “unnecessary”.

But after looking at my financial plan this month, I saw that I have already invested a lot of money on my days out with friends. In fact, it went beyond what I intended to give. And I have realized that the reason that I can spend on friends easier than on myself is because I can see the ROI of those moments.

ROI = Return Of Investment

And what is the return of investing in social gatherings?

Spending time and money with and on my girls makes me feel good. It recharges my spirit and I become inspired with their own strength as women. And goodness knows I need that right now. There are a lot of changes in my life. I really needed something to uplift me.

With that in mind, I have realized that I do not see any “returns” in investing in myself.
I feel like “I don’t do me any good”, and of course, that is rubbish. I am breathing. I am alive. I just paid my bills. I am actually actively supporting and making myself better. I do myself A LOT OF GOOD. I just refuse to see it.

And the reason that I refuse to see it is because I don’t see the necessity to acknowledge the good that I give me. I don’t see the benefit of seeing myself appreciating myself because it should be like breathing. I should just “know” that I appreciate myself. It should be a passive thing in my life. Even more so, I think it’s vain or narcissistic to do so.

But that’s the point --- truth of the matter is I want appreciating myself to be an “active” experience and it’s wrong for me to think that it’s about being vain or narcissist.

I mean, if I think about it, of course, I would like to be appreciated by people that I love. In fact, I would like to know if I am appreciated in their lives because if they don’t, then I should take this love elsewhere for the love that I offer is unique, intense and definitely life changing. It’s not something you pick off the street for free. I know this much.

So, if I do love getting appreciation from others, what more from myself?

I think I would be absolutely delighted to know that I appreciate the things that I do for myself. And one form of showing that is to actually get that check-up. I figured that if I can spend time with friends and treat them, then I can also do the same for my health because I have delivered so much good in my life.

I have brought love in my life.

I have brought friends in my life.

I have brought career in my life.

I have brought stability in my life.

I have brought creativity in my life.

I have brought spirituality, understanding, tolerance and acceptance in my life.

And so much more!

And the reason that these are in my life is because I invested in myself.

Every day, I invested through buying healthy foods which result to a healthy body which enables me to do what is necessary to keep, attract and grow different aspects of my life.

Every other day, I invested through going to my favorite café to relax and deflate, so that I can perform better next business day and make more money for my life, which allows me to do what I want and need to do in order to feel great about myself and do my life purpose.

Monthly, I invested through paying my own bills, which I use to realize my career, socialize with friends and function in general for society, which results to a higher self-esteem.

I do wonders for myself every day and I need to be aware of that. I need to make myself know that. I need to make myself FEEL that.

And that is ABSOLUTELY NOT VAIN OR NARCISSISM. Being both means it’s all about you and you alone. It disconnects you from the beauty around you and that is not what’s going on when you invest in yourself.

Making yourself feel good, helps you perform better in your daily life. And when you perform your duties at work, family or other social obligations, you help others do their own work and achieve their goals. The returns are “paying itself back and forth” not just towards one direction.

See there? Investing in yourself is good. Vanity and narcissism has nothing to do with it. Because both aspects are just about you --- self-love is about caring for yourself because you do great things to yourself and help others do the same. So go and do some investment on yourself today!

PLUS SIZE DESIGNER: IT HAS BEEN A WHILE...

Hello, Erzulliestas.

Mother fierce here. It has been a while since I have actually blogged about anything in my world. Here, it has currently been the usual --- Monday Mantras, Tuesday Tasks, Wednesday Moods, Thursday Interviews, Fierce Fridays, Saturday Sartorial and Sunday thoughts. Well, not usually in that manner but you get my gist.

So what has been happening to me and Berna designer wise?

We are about to release the last 2 collections of 2017 --- my signature collection and Holiday 2017. But, surprise twist, ladies! I am the one who designed the Holiday 2017 collection.

Yep. Not Berna.

Why this twist, you say?

Well, for one thing, I have not really done anything for the Holiday collection. That is usually Berna's domain and to just switch things up, we have decided that I do the Holiday collection this time around.

So what can you expect about the Signature collection? Well you know that I love the fierce hubadera look. So I am deeply hoping that the collection can actually channel that well for me.

With regards to the Holiday collection, we know that you ladies get invited to a lot of formal affairs because of your busy careers, so we are definitely going to get you covered.

Hopefully, you ladies enjoy what you are about to see from us in the last collections of 2017.

Other than that, we have the #TNEI2017.

So far, this is the toughest batch. I can actually tell that all of them are fighting for their own spot and goodness knows who will actually end up in our roster. As I always say, we will get as many or none at all depending on what's going to be up for 2018, their performance as models and their attitude as women. No unnecessary divas here. You know that, ladies.

PLUS SIZE POWER: WHAT TO DO WHEN SOMEONE GOES AWAY

You're an Erzulliesta. Fabulous people come and go in your life. Some stay, while some just needs to be on their way. Whatever the reason it may be --- permanent or temporary --- sometimes, they have been there in our lives so much they have become part of our every day life. With that, separation gets harder.

So what do you do when someone goes away?

#1 Change your routine.

I actually got this from Erzullie Icon and Plus Size Model, Loren Monares. You girls know that right now she is in a relationship with someone from another country. That man spent his time here for more than a year. Now that they are engaged, they have decided to prepare for the future. With that in mind, Salih just needs to go back to his country and put the plan in action.

And of course, a person being in your life for a year can definitely develop some changes in the way that you conduct your day. When I asked how she started to adjust, she said that she simply changed her routine so that she won't have to feel the emptiness, which of course, makes sense.

You won't be doing the same things anymore simply because you have changed your schedule. This will distract you from what "used" to be there.

#2 Take this as an opportunity to see how tough you are

Our life indeed got richer with that person in our lives, but you are the sole maker of your own "social fortune". True. It's hard to see someone go and leave, but if you think about it, you were able to live without that person for a while before you have met. Surely, you can do it again.

So rather than seeing this as an opportunity of loss, look at this as a way for you to see how strong you are on your own. You will be surprised. It may not be as hard as you thought it would be.

#3 Alone is different from lonely --- Embrace your freedom.

Truth be told, I have seen a lot of strong and alone Erzulliestas. Some people think that sounds sad but know that alone does not mean lonely. Alone miss you just want to be by yourself. Lonely means that you want to have someone with you.

In fact, I have met some Erzulliestas that would really rather be alone. They like to be with themselves, doing their interests, coming out every now and then if they see something worthy outside their bubble.

Alone gives a sense of comfort. Only you and your fabulous thoughts and time to actually indulge in things that you don't normally do with other people. Embrace your freedom. This is a great chance to do so.
