PLUS SIZE MODEL: JANELLE RIVAS #TNEI2017 TOP 5

Erzulliesta Janelle Rivas has not even graduated and she already has her business. At a young age in her 20's, she is now building her empire and hustle. What more can top that off?

How about being part of the TOP 5 #TNEI2017? We ask her, who she is as an Erzulliesta and this is her reply:

"I represent those young women who are now in the stage of entering the adult life/work life or also known as Strong-independent women. I really want to represent them because it is the time wherein everything is at the first time and having that balanced of young and adult life.

I want to tell them that they don't have to be scared about the outside world of the four sides of the University. Also, they have to be confident and proud of what they have because it will be their edge in their careers and they have nothing to be ashamed of.

The more important thing is that they believe in themselves and believe that they can do whatever they want. And of course, to tell them that even though that they are starting working and having more responsibility in life, don’t forget to enjoy and have fun, to have a balance work-life." - Erzulliesta Janelle Rivas

PLUS SIZE MODEL: ANGEL BAUTISTA #TNEI2017 TOP 5

Erzulliesta Angel Bautista has an innate and unspoken intensity. She can just stand in a room and her presence, her mere breath, announces herself. Armed with her creative expressions, you will definitely have your senses surrender to her arresting charms.

And now, here she is --- part of the TOP 5 of #TNEI2017. We now ask her the important question: "Who she is as an Erzulliesta?" and this is her answer:

“I represent the out- going, easy, fearless, independent, strong, and confident Erzulliesta because I want every woman to know, especially the young girls that, it’s okay to have flaws. It’s okay to be big and it’s okay to be you.

Sure. I still do have "those days" and "those moments" but looking back, I’m happy that I burned all my doubts and insecurities, and I have found the courage to step out and stand up for myself because at the end of the day, me, myself and I will be there when no one else can.

PLUS SIZE MODEL: MAXINNE ALINELL #TNEI2017 TOP 5

Erzulliesta Maxine Alinell first came in for Erzullie's Plus Size Model Open Shoot. At that time, she was the second client (the first one is her best friend, Erzulliesta Angel Bautista). She was very shy at first, but I like that once she got in front of the camera, she got her fiesty energy on.

And now, here she is, part of the #TNEI2017 Top 5. We ask her --- who she represents as an Erzulliesta? This is her reply:

"I am Maxine and I represent the Erzulliestas who are breaking free from the norms that they've been tied to. Not that its wrong but self-discovery leads to a better expression of yourself the way you want to express yourself.

I was brought up in a very conservative family so I used to be really stern when it comes to studies and work but when I realized I can also be good at what I’m doing while I’m enjoying who I wanna be.

This is my body and I will enhance it the way I want, I don’t have to follow certain standards.
I am a professional but that doesn’t mean I cannot look like Beyonce.

I was 27 when I have realized that and that this is what I want to show other women. Discover who you really are, embrace it and from there you will be surprised how much you love that person you see when you look into the mirror. It is never too late, after all, nothing is sexier than a person who does his or her job with confidence while looking like a star." - Erzulliesta Maxinne Alinell

PLUS SIZE MODEL: YONON KOFFA #TNEI2017 TOP 5

The first time I have met Yonon Koffa, she actually participated in the Plus Size Model Open Shoot. Truth be told, the whole team was excited. For the first time, a woman who is proud of her morena skin has applied and for us, it was one of those yummy fashion treats that the fashion gods would bestow every now and then.

We felt really good that day.

She approached a bit shy, a bit tentative, but as soon as she warmed up in front of the camera, I saw that there was a spark inside of her. She knew that she finally belonged in this Erzullie tribe and now, here she is --- part of the top 5 for The Next Erzullie Icon 2017.

And with that in mind, we asked her --- who does she represent as an Erzulliesta? And this is what she replied:

"I represent those who are misunderstood. Those who hide in the shadows. Those who think negatively about themselves because of their size or the color of their skin. That one girl in class who had no friends. The shadow underneath a shadow.

I used to be that girl. I used to be ridiculed because I was different. They called me fat and ugly. At the age of 10 I already wished I was dead. I wished I was invisible. They called me names because my dad is black. They laughed at me because I was fat. I didn't want to go out because I was scared to be laughed at. I was scared to love because I was scared to be rejected.
Have you ever felt that way?

I learned to speak out my mind. I finally had a friend. She showed me that looks are nothing. Despite the color of my skin and size she talked to me and made me realize that the world is much bigger than what I thought it was. She opened my eyes.

Now? I am an independent woman. I work for my family, my true friends and myself.

Don't think of the color of your skin or how big you are. These will not and will never make you less of a person. We are beautiful! Live life to the fullest! We only live once. Make the best out of it. Be confident! You are smart! You are beautiful! We are women with power. Women with curves. Women with inner and outer beauty. Do not let anyone tell you that you are less of a person or tell you who you are. You know who you are!

The first time I saw Erzulliesta Corinne De Guzman, she was up for the plus size model open shoot. She was one of the early batches. There was something very feisty about this woman and who would have thought that at that point she was already in her 40’s?

Fast forward, out of thousands of applicants, here she is… part of the top 5 for The Next Erzullie Icon 2017. And of course, we asked her the magical question --- who she is as an Erzulliesta? And for you ladies, does she represent you?

"I am an Erzulliesta representing ladies in their mid-life, and those although senior in age, but will always be innocent and a child at heart. I want to stand up for those ladies who have yet to start realizing their dreams because it is never too late.

I represent career women, go-getters who always have time for family, who believes that age and size are just numbers that should not deter oneself from achieving their dreams. I am Corinne de Guzman, and i am an Erzulliesta." - Erzulliesta Corinne De Guzman
