ERZULLIEFIED! WEAR SLEEVELESS, WITHOUT STRESS!

 SEPTEMBER 15, 2011
11:42 PM

PHOTO FROM THISNEXT.COM

I know for a fact that some plus size women are very conscious about their big arms that is why they never get to enjoy wearing sleeveless even if it's very hot that day!

Another reason as to why is because they fear that their kili-kili (arm pits) are sooooo pitch black (of course, totally exaggerated in our minds) that if we raise our arms, the whole world will be back in the 12th Century without candles or something.

But ladies, ladies... LADIES. Let me assure you. You are not alone.Majority of the women have the same conditions as you. So no need, to feel and think that you are ugly because of it. Because if you do think that way, you'd be dissing a lot of other fabulous women in the world who has it.

But if that fact is not enough for you, allow me to present to you the truth about wearing sleeveless and  ways of being able to wear it without feeling "STRESSED" or nervous about it.

Behold The Sexy Jhaki David... (The Truth About A Sleeveless Ensemble)

COPYRIGHT ERZULLIE 2011

Look at the photo of Erzullie Icon Jhaki David above. Most probably, when you saw her, you saw the whole photo first, thought about it as a whole and have made judgement --- on whether or not it's fabulous. Then, when you believe that it's worthy to look at, you mind starts to trail off to details (like it's sleeveless, her necklace, her eyes, hair etc.)

Did you see what just happened there?

You were not focused immediately that she is wearing sleeveless or her arms. You were more focused on how it looked like as a whole. Obviously, a whole is made up of several parts. Remember too, FIRST IMPRESSIONS LAST... So if you looked good as a whole, most probably that is the last thing that will last in the mind of the on looker.

This is good news because, you have now proven to yourself, first hand that wearing sleeveless is not a big deal because it's not the only deal that goes on in the outfit. It's about the combination of several fashion items on you.

Jhaki looks great wearing sleeveless because she just looked AMAZEBALLS as a whole. If she can do it, so can you. Mind you, she is actually a 2L to 3L in our usual measurement.

The Right Sleeveless Top

In light of looking great as a whole, we cannot ignore the usual question of what is the right sleeveless top for you. If you are like Jhaki, hourglass, this would look great because the print is constant all over (balancing your north and south areas), and there is a gathering at the side, enhancing your hourglass shape.

This kind of sleeveless top is also great for those who have small hips. Because of the detailing at the bottom part of the sleeveless, there is more "bulk" given at your lower area.

To those who have small boobs and big everything else. Choose sleeveless tops that has bulk or a pop of color, concentrating at that area. This will help you balance your figure out. This is also applicable to girls that has small boobs, big waist/tummy, and small hips. Just make sure though that you pair that sleeveless with a bottom that bulks you up to create a continuation in your body and legs.

To the ladies that has boobs, waist and hips of the same width, make sure that you put a belt on that sleeveless to help you create a waist. Otherwise, you'd look flat all over.

Another thing to consider would be the cut of the top. To enhance your plus size figure, use tops that have been cut to have a waist. This way, it will help you curve your body, helping you reveal a waist. The tendency of a straight cut top would be to hug your curves as it is, so if you are okay with what you have, then go for this kind.

Final one to consider in choosing is the fit of the top. Make sure that the sleeveless top hugs your body right and is not loose in the arm holes, otherwise, you'd look sloppy. To know if you have a "loose armhole" raise your hand all the way up. If you can see that the armhole of top is not against your skin, then you need to have it altered or switched. If you can see that your body is oozing out of the top, then that is another no-no.

The goal of any ensemble is to hug your body right and not too tight.

Eve Used Her Hair to Cover Herself, Why Won't You?

Reason 2 as to why Jhaki looks so faboosh in the photo is because of her fabulous hair covering her arms. You can do this as well (if you are still not yet at that level of confidence, in this case, Jhaki is actually confident of herself, it just so happens that she just has fabulous hair to begin with).

Now, I am not saying that you literally place you hair there. However, having long, curly and vibrant looking hair actually helps. It becomes an "accessory" to your outfit and the healthier looking your hair is, chances are, the eyes will visually focus on that, instead of your arms.

Let The Bling Sing!

Last but not the least, if you want another "distraction" trick for the eyes so that they won't focus on your arms as much, would be to let the bling "sing" or dazzle the onlooker.

Most probably, in the photo above, your eyes also went to the long silver chain necklace. It's because it's bright, it glitters, sparkles and shimmers. Our eyes, of course, are always drawn to things that reflect light. So instead of focusing on your arms. The long silver necklace, aside from elongating Jhaki, also focuses the attention on it and not on the areas you are not yet that confident with.

Final love note

Now that you know the truth about a sleeveless ensemble, I hope that you girls gain some confidence on wearing it as you love it!

Remember! The sleeveless ensemble about the whole outfit, the right detail, cut and fit!

Cheers!

ERZULLIEFIED! PLUS SIZE FASHION COMMUTER STYLE

SEPTEMBER 15, 2011

COPYRIGHT BHCUEVAS 2011

We love Figaro Cainta. No. This is not a paid advertisement nor are we endorsing them now. We just really love the place. It's quiet. It's cozy. It's relaxing. Berna and I usually go there for breakfast or lunch. We also go there for Erzullie meetings. We usually get our best ideas there. It's amazeballs!

Anyway we were there to plan for the upcoming Empresario Manila Holiday 2011 Fashion show. But then it also inspired me for another article, accidentally. In order to catch the great Figaro Breakfast, we have to commute.

This is where our article comes in.

I know that we all want to look like we all just came out from a magazine, but then we usually get restricted because we commute to our daily places (school/work).Although it's not impossible, it's just a little difficult to embrace our high fashion selves during commute. So I was thinking of a nice ensemble that would make us feel very "fashionista" without sacrificing our commuting comfort.

Here is what me and Berna came up. Although, again, mind you... this is just what we got. I am not the ultimate fashion expert. Sino ba ako di ba? Haha? (Who the hell am I right?)

Go Out With the right OUTERWEAR

COPYRIGHT ERZULLIE 2011

It's the holidays. It's kind of chilly and here in our lovely country, it rains from time to time. Your best friend is definitely the beautiful and fabulous... OUTERWEAR.

For commuting, choose outerwear that does not crease easily. This way, even after you went out of the jeep, tricycle or bus, you'd still look faboosh!

The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants (A parody)
COPYRIGHT ERZULLIE 2011
It's commuting and a pair of pants is always your bestfriend. You have more room to move freely south border wise.

To amp up any normal and casual commute trip outfit, choose a colored/printed bottom. This would be great for those who have small hips.

'Leggo!' Leggings!
COPYRIGHT ERZULLIE 2011

The cousin of pants, leggings are another great bet for you girls. It's flexible, comfortable and most important of all does not crease! To diversify your outfit, wear leggings with cutouts or embelishments!

In application...

Again these are just at the top of my head. I can actually go on with the list of things that we can apply in our daily commute fashion, but I believe in keeping it short. How about you? How do you Erzulliefy yourself in commuting? Here is ours. ^^

CURVIES IN BIKINIS: DO PEOPLE STILL CARE ABOUT IT?

SEPTEMBER 12, 2011
1:18 PM

COPYRIGHT ERZULLIE 2011
DAKAK BEACH RESORT

It's a beautiful beach day in Dakak and there are some people playing or lounging at the beach. I sat on the sand, wearing a two piece bathing suit, shorts and cover up. I saw that some of the women are wearing bikinis in different ways. Some are wearing it as it is. Some are wearing it with shorts. Some are wearing it with cover ups.

Mind you. These women are of different shapes, sizes and color. Some have bilbil (love handles). Some have abs. Some has the perfect skin. Some has some scars. The list can go on in describing them. These women are so diverse in their own way, yet, in a non-manyak (non-malicious) way, I find them all beautiful, hot and sexy.

In fact, if you go on the books on this one, some of them are choosing the wrong bathing suits for their shape. But hell, they are wearing it anyway.

There are also some men out there, of course, wearing bikinis! the usual swim shorts. I have observed them to see if they would be bothered by any of the usually perceived flaws of women, by women --- the bilbils  (love handles). Funny enough. These men were just swimming. They acted normal. They didn't avoid them.

They were just there.

Then it struck me. Do people still care that a curvy is in a bikini? So, for the sake of the experiment. I have taken off my cover up and shorts. I pray that my sister would not read this. Ha! She'd kill me but for the sake of knowing, I did it.

I asked Berna to take a photo of me and this is what I look like:

COPYRIGHT ERZULLIE 2011
Yes, people. That is me. The only thing edited is the color. I turned it black and white. However, I am sure that you can still see my big arms, thighs, love handles (folded unto my bikini) and stretch marks (if you look closer).

As I sat there in the beach with this ensemble, I observed if the guy sitting five (5) empty lounge chairs away from me would stair at me and scrutinize what I am wearing. He looked at me but never said a word. There were people in the cafe bar by the beach. They looked but said nothing.

In fact, no one said anything.

I have realized at that moment that, no one will ever say a word. Should they say some (good or bad), no one will go straight to you, point it out and say it directly.

I guess, should there be someone like that (going directly to you and saying things about what you're wearing) it is just you inside your head.

Oh, my (insert any part of the female body here) are too big!

Guess what sweetie, the rest of the female race feel that way! Even the skinny people have the tendency that any of their body parts are too big for their whole body.

Also, if you think that that body part is too big, the tendency is someone has it bigger or... it's not really that big as you think.

I am ashamed. I have stretch marks!

If you are a mother already, why are you ashamed for having them? You gave life to this earth! Hell, those stretch marks are trophies! Mahirap kaya ang magbuntis ang magluwal ng bata sa mundo. (Being pregnant and giving birth is hard!)

If you haven't, then you should know ALL WOMEN, one way or another, have stretchmarks. The reason that you think other women do not have it is because well... you are too busy to think about it anyway, as much as the rest of the human race is also too busy to think that you have stretchmarks.

As such, stretch marks are 'invisible' to and in anyone --- until you point it out. In fact, I am pretty sure that when you saw my photo above, you'd immediately think of everything else first, before that fact --- because I pointed it out.

Also, if you think that having stretchmarks are ugly... so are you thinking of the same thing for the rest of the female race? Not really.

I can't do it. I have bilbil (love handles).

I have bilbil because I am fat. And I have realized at that moment, sino ba ang wala? (who doesn't have it?) I bet even skinny people "think" that they have it. So what is the point of being conscious about it?

Babae tayong lahat. May bilbil man o wala. SEKSI. (We are all women. Love handles or not.We are all sexy.)

Also, for me... even if you wear a one piece bathing suit, surfing kind etc. any kind of swim wear, it will hug your body and your bilbil will show. Good thing though, it's the beach, every one will be too busy with their beach activities or even better... their own beachwear insecurities, they won't point that out.

Furthermore, I am just a normal person. No one would actually care if I have it.

Anong iisipin ng tao? (What will people think?)

It's the beach. They are all strangers. Most probably, they will not remember you, vice versa. They will think of something good/bad but you are not psychic (I assume... if you are, admit it, sometimes our intuitions is wrong) you will never REALLY, TRULY, HONESTLY, DEFINITELY know what they are thinking --- until you ask them.

Of course, you are also too fabulous and normal enough to know not to go to a total stranger and ask him/her "How do I look?" (like the show). So, the only comment (good or bad) that you can know is from your own head. So, be kind to yourself.

For short....

No one really cares what you look like in your swimwear (bikini or not)... only you. So get out there, wearing what you want to wear and care only about what you think of yourself.

Spiritual hugs!
