1. Hello, Erzulliesta! Tell us your name and something about yourself.
Hi! My name is Maria Corinne S de Guzman and my friends like to call me "corky". I am a plus size woman and I have been plus size for as long as I can remember.
I work in government now and am proud to be part of this administration. I am a law graduate and an underbar. I am meaning to start reviewing to take the bar exams again, but I am immensely enjoying my work now. But I will take that review classes soon!
I worked for 7 years in TV5 before getting into government service.
I am single and have had my heart broken several times because of my size. But being the Errzulliesta that I am, I never let heartbreaks get me down for too long. I have a 15-day-bounce-back-happier rule and in those 15 days, I try new stuff and just think of myself and my own happiness.
2. How did you find out about Erzullie?
I was browsing through Facebook when the ad of Erzullie for a workshop for modelling basics popped up. I joined that workshop and after... as they say: the rest is history.
I was in awe of the confidence of the plus size women I met that first day when I came to the workshop. After attending, I said to myself: i am not alone. And being plus size should not be a hindrance for me to dress better and to show confidence despite my size. My first experience was an eye opener. It was my turning point.

The trial project for the search for the Next Erzullie Icon 2017. Definitely that. I learned to love myself more after hat and I got to know so many soul sisters.
From that, I know that I am an Erzulliesta because I am a woman who is confident and happy despite my size. I also have a caring heart who sees beyond each person's appearance. I am empowered because I am lucky enough to have confidence to wear what I want and not mind what other people might think. I am empowered because I have confidence to be what I want to be and do what I want to do and prove to everyone that size does not matter if you put your heart and soul into something and be able to do it despite your size.
In this day and age where most people believe that only skinny girls or tall girls are beautiful, I/we who can reach out to other plus size women must relay to them the message that size is just a number. That we all are beautiful no matter what our size is. We have to empower each other in driving home the message that we ARE BEAUTIFUL.
4. Message to Erzulliestas.
Be you, sister! Be confident! Be brave! You are beautiful! I have learned that it only takes 30 seconds of courage to start something you want to do and after that, you just have to make a stand and BELIEVE that you are beautiful and can wear what you want and be what you want despite your size! Most important, be happy! Live happy despite your size!
